Après Candide de Voltaire, Antoine Laprise et son théâtre de marionnettes s'attaque à l'un des plus anciens poèmes de l'humanité. Cette épopée à la base de la pensée indienne tient dans un livre, quinze fois plus gros que la Bible. L'adaptation théâtrale de Jean-Claude Carrière, dont s'inspire Antoine Laprise, raconte l'histoire d'une guerre d'extermination entre deux familles de cousins, les Pandavas et les Kauravas à propos de l'empire du monde. Pour en retirer les grands enseignements du dharma. L'auteur-conteur, Vyasa, dit d'entrée de jeu à l'enfant assis à ses côtés : « [...] si tu l'écoutes jusqu'au bout tu seras un autre.»

Following their presentation of Voltaire's Candide, Antoine Laprise and his puppet theatre interpret one of the most ancient poems ever written. This epic that is the basis of Indian thought fills a book fifteen times as thick as the Bible. The theatrical adaptation by Jean-Claude Carrière, which Laprise uses as his source, tells the story of a war to the death between two families of cousins, the Pandavas and the Kauravas, over who will rule the world, and draws on the great teachings of the dharma. As the author-storyteller Vyasa says to the child sitting beside him at the start of the play, "If you listen all the way to the end, you will become someone else."
