Les dirigeants du camp, usant d'une cruelle ironie, forcent les prisonniers à concevoir et à monter une pièce de théâtre sur Simon Bolivar. Rajatabla a créé cette oeuvre profondément tragique en 1982, un an avant le bicentenaire de la naissance de Bolivar. Ce héros national rêvait d'unifier les pays hispaniques d'Amérique du Sud en une seule et libre nation: la Grande Colombie. Délaissant le côté épique et glorieux de la vie de Bolivar, les prisonniers acteurs décident de représenter les dix derniers jours de son agonie: choix lourd de sens. Bolivar was the national hero who dreamed of uniting all the Spanishspeaking countries of South America into one free nation: Greater Colombia. But in a highly significant choice, the prisoner actors decide to ignore the gloricus epic of Bolivar's life and focus on his last ten dying days.
