When presenting a trilogy,
of course, why not all of it? In this case a clever, enigmatic distillation
of the second and third novels (The Proof and The Third
Lie). Now an adult, Lucas suffers from the absence of his twin,
though he cannot even prove the latters existence. Just as
the border opens and a reunion appears to be imminent, everything
becomes muddled and confused. Thus begins a mysterious and captivating
disarray of identity that intermingles lies, reality and fiction
to constantly confound the truth. Sustained by the poetic and heartrending
creative force of Agota Kristof, De Onderneming probes the twists
and turns of memory and the heartbreak of exile.
