SEMINAL WORKS BY WAJDI MOUAWAD, MERCE CUNNINGHAM AND IVO VAN HOVE PLUS A NEW DANCE PIECE BY GINETTE LAURIN FEATURED AT THE UPCOMING FESTIVAL TRANSAMÉRIQUES

Among the 25 original and innovative pieces in its diverse program are the following. Festival TransAmériques is thrilled to announce the presentation of Wajdi Mouawad's quartet Le Sang des promesses, consisting of the trilogy Littoral - Incendies - Forêts plus Ciels, the grand finale of this incredible theatrical odyssey. In a Canadian exclusive, Montreal audiences will have the privilege of seeing the legacy piece by Merce Cunningham, the dance pioneer who died last summer at age 90. Nearly 90², his final choreography for thirteen dancers, will open the Festival on May 27 and 28. Theatrical electric shock treatment is in store with Roman Tragedies by Toneelgroep Amsterdam, as director Ivo van Hove delivers a scathing analysis of the mechanisms of power in his adaptation of the three Shakespeare tragedies Coriolanus, Julius Caesar and Antony and Cleopatra. The distinctive style that has established the renown of Ginette Laurin will be blazing in the latest work from the O Vertigo company, Onde de choc, a world premiere at the Festival.
