The entire FTA team wishes to pay tribute to the choreographer Alain Platel, who received the 2015 GRAND PRIX de la danse de Montréal for his acclaimed performances of tauberbach at the FTA last May, a work presented in collaboration with Hydro-Québec. The jury emphasized “his considerable influence on contemporary dance and the persistent relevance of his work.” Jury members also noted “the quality of his artistic work as well as his commitment to art and to Les ballets C de la B, a remarkable incubator of talent in Belgium.
November got off to a rousing start, providing a big boost of pride for the entire FTA team! On Monday the Quebec Minister of Culture and Communications, Hélène David, announced that Marie-Hélène Falcon was the winner of the 2015 Prix du Québec for the performing arts.
The ninth edition of the biggest festival of contemporary theatre and dance in North America came to an end Thursday evening in an atmosphere of excitement at the FTA Quartier général in downtown Montreal. Over the 15 days of the event, from May 21 to June 4, 2015, the 44,604 festivalgoers were truly engaged by the 25 shows selected by Martin Faucher, who presented his first edition as artistic director of the Festival, sharing executive director duties with David Lavoie.
