Montreal, 17 September 2013 – After lengthy reflection and without doubt a twinge of sorrow, the co-founder and general and artistic director of the Festival TransAmériques Marie-Hélène Falcon wishes to announce her decision to step down as head of the FTA at the end of the 8th edition, which will take place from May 22 to June 7, 2014. Her decision was recently disclosed to the board of directors. The Chair of the board of directors Paule Leduc has initiated the process to recruit a successor.
Over the past few months, the FTA artists and program attracted a lot of buzz in the media. For those who weren’t able to read all the articles and commentary (in fact, we know of no one who managed to do so!), we have prepared a selection of excerpts from the press that give an overview of responses to the seventh edition of the FTA.
After 18 days devoted to exploring innovative aesthetic trends in dance and theatre, the seventh edition of the Festival TransAmériques came to a close late Saturday night on a festive high note. The artists, directors and technical crews plus the entire FTA team had many reasons to celebrate. The audience attendance rate was 91%, with 14 out of 19 indoor venue shows (74%) sold out and 81% of the 57 venue performances sold out – breaking all previous records!
